Season 4 Episode 2 of You picks up exactly where the last episode left off. Joe attends a party with the wealthy Malcolm's friend circle. Joe tries to zero in on the killer, certain that his prey is among his circle of acquaintances.

Later he returns to his apartment to check for bugs and surveillance cameras. He wants to make sure the real killer isn't keeping tabs on him. However, he finds nothing inside. But, on the opening night of Simon's latest art show, he receives an invitation to Kate's exhibition in the style of a murder mystery.

Joe begins to suspect that Kate is making fun of him and begins to watch her carefully. He finds out that Kate is calling Malcolm in a state of panic to find out where he is. Kate may be acting this way to avoid getting in trouble. Joe hasn't found any evidence linking her to Malcolm's death.

Joe reads books to clear up his muddled thinking. He hangs around in the university library to mull over the crime he has to solve. Joe meets Nadia, one of his students and a murder mystery fan. Nadia warns Joe that nothing in this type of story is ever a coincidence as she outlines the staples of this literary subgenre. Nadia stresses that the first suspect is often the murderer's second victim and that all murders drive by sex, money, or retribution.

Inspired by Nadia's friendly insights into the framework of a whodunnit, Joe decides to phone Elliot. Elliot is the assassin who hunted him down in Europe and ended up giving him the name of Jonathan Moore. Joe has a hunch that the hired killer who promised to help him didn't do so by accident. Despite Joe's pleas for an explanation, the man maintains his innocence. The murderer keeps messaging Joe, revealing that they have been following him and looking into his background.

In order to track out a killer, Joe accepts Lady Phoebe's invitation and pays her a visit. He needs to keep in touch with Malcolm's friends for this. She informs Joe that she's the one who put him on the shortlist for Simon's art exhibition. She says their talk in the club changed her life. Joe's alcoholic memory loss makes it difficult for him to hold meaningful conversations. Yet, there are undeniable benefits to having Lady Phoebe's approval. First, Adam, Phoebe's partner, buys Joe a fresh new suit for the opening of the art show.

Joe's engagement with Malcolm's close friends during the customizing process is helpful. This is despite the fact that it might be tough to hear from wealthy people that your clothes are inadequate. The story progresses, and we learn that the death was not well-liked by anyone. While attending Oxford University, the group of pals met each other. But eventually, Kate's boyfriend Malcolm came to join in the fun. The group took in Malcolm because they felt bad for Kate. However, he was universally disliked by everyone.

While investigating Malcolm's murder, Joe is takes his university office key from Kate's purse. Someone sees him doing this. Joe investigates Malcolm's office and discovers a bizarre notebook full of ciphers and a pile of cash. Bets on the side at horse races, which is what Connie really wants to do, are mentioned. It's also said that "Louis de Sun King and Dagger" is aware of the situation. When Adam was in college, he played the Sun King in a play. And Joe learns that Dagger is the waiter at the Sundry House who urinated all over Adam in the club's cloakroom on the precise day and time that Malcolm had written down in his notebook. That Malcolm was attempting to blackmail some of his well-off acquaintances is undeniable.
