The podcasters heard gunshots and a car smash while one of them denied their relative had seen the wailing man. The two go toward the sounds and locate a car that ran straight into a tree, but the astonished survivors, Judith and Henry, describe what occurred. A shirtless man raced out of the woodland as the elderly couple drove down the road, and the automobile hit him before it could slow down. The automobile swerved and hit a tree. The man who was hit is in much worse shape than Judith and Henry. The two podcasters are surprised to see the man's white eyes, indicating blindness. They recognize the wailing man as they contact the police and rush him to the hospital.

Amanda Wagner informs GBI special agent Will Trent that the park police have requested the GBI's assistance in solving a possible kidnapping. Will joins Angie at the hospital and sees the tortured man's body. Ormewood interrogates the old couple, but their son Tom arrives and takes them away, requesting the police to let them rest after the stressful event. Before dying, the car-hit man names his attacker Timothy. After visiting the crime scene, the four detectives ask the podcasters for their recordings. Will finds a bloodied rope, Phineas Lathrop's driving license, and a dead body in the woods. The podcasters heard gunshots because this man died from them. Will believes the offender held Arthur Tealy (the first victim) and Phineas Lathrop hostage and then escaped. Arthur is slain while escaping, and Phineas is shot by the offender. The medical examiner says someone poisoned these blind men.

The next day, the four return to the woods to investigate where the guys were a hostage. Ormewood slips into the murderer's underground lair, damaging his ankle. The detectives find evidence in this room that the perpetrator was imposing biblical wrath. A diary with the same Bible text in different handwriting shows that there were many more victims. Next, they find a church kneeler with large, sharp glass shards to injure users.

Faith sees a job post for men wanting to transform their life as Will asks for a church volunteer list. The detectives now know that the culprit hooks his victims with this ad, which includes 1 Timothy 3:8. At the same time, Angie and Ormewood find Duke, a missing man who went to a job interview. Will and Faith go to Duke's motorcycle's GPS position when the police find it. Will finds little AFID discs despite no suspicious activity.

The only witnesses to the collision, two podcasters, told the cops about a second green pickup truck that had driven off on that route shortly after the accident. Ormewood said they should discover this green pickup truck while Will investigated. Ormewood investigated the case on his own because the police detective was furious about the GBI interfering. The APD detective learns of a young man who would always warn Paul about God's punishment when interrogating Paul's companion, who had gone missing years before. Ormewood quickly tracks this young man to an abandoned dairy farm. The perpetrator tases Ormewood and kidnaps him after he finds the same green pickup truck and rosary in the underground bunker.

Tom tortures Ormewood and Duke after kidnapping them. Ormewood gets Tom to assault him. Ormewood, although chained, overpowers the young guy and escapes with Duke. Will, Faith, and Amanda run to their police station to search for the APD detective. The men play hide-and-seek, including Tom with a rifle. Will, Faith, and Amanda corner the man, and the police arrest him. Will spares Ormewood from death despite their differences.
