Jackson and Ellis share a touching moment at the start of the series finale of Unstable, episode 8, after successfully getting Leslie out of the house. As soon as Anna lets Ellis know that the board will be meeting to discuss an emergency, Ellis calls a meeting. But she figures it's to get rid of him, so his excitement wanes.

Then, Anna approaches Jackson and begs for his help. To cancel the board meeting, Jackson visits Jean at her apartment. Upon entering Jean's residence, he runs into Leslie. He explains that he notified Jean that Ellis was holding him captive. Jackson blames Jean for the mayhem and is considering running the family business instead of his father.

Jackson and Malcolm will soon be seeing Leslie's wife, Barbara. They hope that by extending a date invitation to Barbara and Leslie, they might smooth over their differences. She agrees to go on a date, but things quickly turn sour. When Barbara doesn't show up to the outside dinner to woo Malcolm, Leslie doubles down on taking Ellis down when he shows up.

Ellis thinks he has found a way to manipulate the board to his benefit and is celebrating inside the laboratory. Leslie then pretends to have spent a few days with Ellis after Jean brings her to the board to notify them of what happened. Shortly after, Jackson confides in Anna that he convinced them to let him stay with them without informing the board.

While Jackson is giving an inspiring speech to the board, Ellis is setting fire to a car in front of a house. Ellis's erratic behavior in the boardroom prompts a board member to stop him and call for a vote. Meanwhile, Ellis returns to the lab, convinced that he's solved the problem with the research.

As Anna tries to slow down the board, Ellis walks in with the finished project. Ellis eventually faces Jean and announces that she is no longer there. While this happens, Jackson and Luna enjoy a tender moment in which they express their concern for each other if Jackson leaves. A passionate embrace closes this discussion. When Ruby walks in, she sees the two of them kissing, which seems pretty normal. The episode concludes with Ellis stepping away from the flaming automobile and assuring Anna that there will be no more turmoil in the future.

There is complete anarchy at the outset of the series finale. The episode maintains a high tension throughout, which is fantastic since it guarantees viewers will stay interested. The attack and the season conclude with a spectacular explosion. Most plot threads have been resolved at the end of this episode. Ellis has succeeded in keeping his job, getting rid of Jean, and destroying her vehicle. Amid the commotion, Jackson and Luna have a tender moment by kissing.

If the show is returned for a second season, I hope we witness what happens next with Ellis and Jean's automobile. What happens between Jackson and Luna will be interesting to follow as well.

Unstable is now streaming on Netflix.
