The Netflix workplace comedy Unstable centers on the dysfunctional but ultimately satisfying relationship between Ellis Dragon, a brilliant, well-respected, and sometimes selfish biotech capitalist, and his son Jackson. Ellis's death of Katie causes a nervous breakdown in the CEO of Dragon Biotech. Anna Bennet, Dragon's CFO, and Ellis's apparent closest friend invited Jackson to Los Angeles. Prior she learns that certain company board members wanted to have Ellis removed.

Despite sci-fi overtones, this is primarily a comedy series about mental health and the relationship between a father and son. Jackson is socially uncomfortable, whereas his father, Ellis, who heads up a cutting-edge biological research team, is eccentric and self-absorbed.

Beginning in the middle of the night, Leslie throws a party at Ellis' house. She wakes up both Jackson and Ellis in Episode 7 of Unstable. Jackson has Ellis ask Leslie to leave the residence the following morning after he makes the request. On the other hand, Leslie exploits the kidnapping to blackmail him and keeps him from leaving.

Ellis wants to spend more time with Jackson. He offers to drive him to his second job and spends the day with him. At Ellis's second employment, Jackson is the center of attention, and Ellis is not pleased.

When Anna sees Ruby searching for her fanfiction on her security footage, she finds out that Jackson has already told Ruby about it. After that, Anna composes a brand new piece of fan fiction and begs Malcolm to give it to her. To irritate Ruby, she gives Ruby's character the appearance of a cow while giving her other coworkers the appearance of exciting animals. Anna's scheme is a success after Malcolm gives Ruby the fan fiction. Anna then enters and gives the scientists orders to begin working.

Anna and Luna argue in the lab regarding Anna's fan fiction titles. After hearing them argue twice, Malcolm finally breaks the silence by revealing that Anna's actual fanfiction universally adores her.

While Ellis plots his vengeance on Jackson, he makes a cruel remark about his late mother, which profoundly offends Jackson and everyone around him.

Ellis gets inspiration after hearing Luna and Ruby talk about the smelly chemical they use at work. He runs across Jackson and thinks he can get Jackson out of Leslie's room by using the substance he found there. Leslie realizes what's happening and storms out of the house in a huff.

At the end of the episode, Anna discovers that Malcolm has been telling Luna and Ruby about her fanfiction. To add insult to injury, Leslie then phones Jean and convinces her to testify against Ellis before the board.

The authoritative tone of a work drama is kept while a lot of fun is added to this episode. A big storyline twist has also been exposed, which is appropriate given that the series finale will air next week. Jean, who first seems to be on Ellis and Jackson's side, turns out to be an enemy who wants to get rid of him by spreading the kidnapping story to the board members. What happens, in the end, will be fascinating to witness.

Unstable is now streaming on Netflix.
