On the fifth episode of Unstable, we find out that Ellis has struck Chaz, his twin brother. The situation worsens when the twins charge Ellis of planning Chaz's murder on his birthday. Ellis and Anna try to make amends by explaining that they went out of their way to shop for presents to surprise them on their birthday. They claim they cannot present the gift at the moment due to forgetfulness but promise to do so the following day.

Anna and Ellis wake up the next morning debating how to get the children to keep Ellis out of jail. Jackson tells Ellis that he and the other lab employees are leaving early to hit the pub. In the meantime, Ruby and Luna plan to spend the evening at a local pub. Later, Ruby fills Luna in on her relationship with Jackson. Together, Ellis and Anna plan to visit the twins' home and present them with a two-seater tricycle as a surprise. The twins get the same gift from multiple people, so they are not happy with their own. Anna and Ellis take the twins out for drinks. They say they're celebrating their birthday but just want to make up for earlier miscommunication.

Ruby, Jackson, Luna, and Malcolm congregate at the pub. Ruby and Jackson then have a cocktail for some quiet time together. At the same moment, the HR guy shows up, and Luna urges Malcolm to hang out with him so that he can do damage control. Ruby and Jackson are having a blast. To Jackson's dismay, however, Ruby's old hookup buddy shows up, and the two wind up chatting while Jackson is ignored. After that, Jackson returns to where Luna is seated and approaches her at the table.

Unstable — Season 1, Episode 5 Recap

Jackson is troubled by Ruby and Cooper's intention to leave after a brief period together. Since the twins aren't very intelligent, Ellis and Anna bring them to the bar, where they convince the lab team to pretend to be celebrating their birthdays with them. Because Luna seems to be avoiding her partner, who is at home, she and Jackson hit it off after Ruby leaves. Ruby enters the scene as Luna and Jackson depart for pancakes. She then tells Jackson that she and Cooper are departing in a taxi. After that, Luna says she'll back out just as Ruby and Jackson are about to depart. After Jackson departs, Luna finally breaks out of her shell and starts dancing with the rest of the group on the dancefloor.

The show has a lot in common with The Office. The main character is like Michael but wiser, and the supporting cast is full of eccentrics. Although the plot is forgettable, the comedy makes up for it. The twins, who sided characters before this show, get much screen time and dialogue. The antics of the siblings never cease to amuse. Finally, Ruby and Jackson leave together after sharing a passionate kiss. It will be intriguing to see where the show's plot goes from here, as the two seem to be into each other.

Unstable is now streaming on Netflix.
