Those who are able to escape rush to the villa. There Patterson runs over the scripts that his receptionist had written up using the bug's transcriptions. He goes to see Varian in person. As he tries to gather himself he finds out that Dillon has been fired. Patterson realizes he has the upper hand in the scenario as soon as he begins to read the script aloud.

Paul too struggles with his new reality, as he finds himself stuck inside this prison with seemingly no way out. Petit works with Thomas to try and get Paul out, and he speaks to Margaux about a possible way of saving his brother. In order to do that, they’re going to need weapons.

Their attention is drawn to a notice in the local newspaper that implies Paul could be deported at any time. He is still alive, though, so that is at least something. The only solution is to return Petit to the villa so he can consult with Hans and develop a strategy there.

The problem is that the prison is a fortress, and with trucks departing only every few days, the situation is precarious. Time is also of the importance. Nevertheless, instead of releasing Paul, they discuss obtaining some weapons and ambushing the convoy as it travels in order to catch everyone off guard. The time for flattery and politeness has passed, and it's now time to

Speaking of action, Thomas debates about just coming out and admitting the truth about his love for Varian. He speaks to the latter and believes they should be happy. He envisions a future where he and Varian will settle down together and have their happy ending. Varian lets himself imagine this and the pair begin kissing, which leads to a lot more later on in the bedroom!

When Mary Jayne arrives to visit Patterson, she gets into a fight of her own. He draws attention to her relationship with Albert and the script that shows she has been working against her with British Intelligence. He commands her to leave his office and threatens to prosecute her for treason if she doesn't.

As they wait for the trucks, Hans wires dynamite to a tree as the convoy operation continues throughout all of this. The rebels plan their theft, which quickly degenerates into violence because they have shackled snipers. When gunfire reverberates across the air, Petit is fatally wounded in the altercation. Everyone attends his burial as Paul laments the death of his sibling.

With everything resting precariously in the balance, Varian and Mary Jayne say their goodbyes as they go their separate ways. Varian apologies to Thomas as he leaves him at the villa, determined to follow through with his plan to save the refugees until the very end – even if it means sacrificing his own happiness and wellbeing to do so. There will be no happy ending for them.

Transatlantic is now streaming on Netflix.
