We're rapidly approaching the point at which Americans will cast their votes for their next President. The Groppenfuhrer and several other senior officials arrive in Marseille as this develops on the US's role in World War II.

That’s big trouble, especially as they’re going to start cracking down hard. Police begin rounding people up at the restaurants in town. Others (led by Frot) show up at the villa and grab a whole bunch of refugees to arrest. In fact, among those happens to be Mary Jayne. They scoop up all the Americans and bundle them on a boat at the docks.

Among those refugees who are able to escape the grip of the police, is writer Walter Mehring. He actually wanted 400,000 francs. He heads into the hotel, where Paul and Albert agree to get him hiding out in one of the rooms upstairs.

The German officers we previously saw arrive and are given keys to their rooms after being in one of the rooms. Paul believes they need to find out exactly what these men are doing because he is suspicious. Mehring is told by Albert that he must remain in his room while he leaves. Albert encounters his oppressors in person. On the way out a Nazi officer throws over his jacket. Albert barely maintains his composure.

Frot shows up to see Patterson. He points out that those from the Villa are clear. They are arrested for an upcoming parade for the Nazis. They are under observation for days and they’re on a ship down at the docks. Frot also knows that Patterson has been seeing Mary Jayne, and uses that against him.

Spooked, Patterson heads down to the ship to see Mary Jayne. He tells her that this is over and they can’t see each other anymore. She’s incredulous and tells him to get out.

Albert wonders if this is the proper time to execute the German commanders in cold blood as they demand that they close the dining room that evening. Albert has to wait it out, Paul says. Paul dissuades him by pointing out that as a black guy in a largely white country, he must deal with his oppressors every day. He wears the officer's jacket for the time being and disguises himself as Walter Mehring, who gets ready and leaves with Albert, allowing him to travel with several other refugees.

In the meantime, Mary Jayne and Thomas inform Varian that they have been working with Margaux to smuggle English POWs across the border. Treason carries a death sentence in

When Albert finds out about the Americans under arrest because of the parade, he rushes down. He need not worry. The officers come back and let them go. On the walk back to the villa, Varian and Mary Jayne hash out what they’ve both been up to, with Mary Jayne revealing she knows about Varian and Thomas’ affair.
