The Battle of Britain is well underway in the third episode of Transatlantic. We learn via the radio that Coventry is under attack and that the war effort is struggling after the Dunkirk catastrophe. Mary Jayne is undoubtedly feeling the pressure as she prepares to begin her dangerous covert mission. Taking pictures with a camera that hides at the bottom of lipstick is a part of that.

Graham Patterson sees a chance while Varian is horrified by the bombing news. He is searching for a method to get the refugees away. Specifically, a chance to do business with the Nazis and earn handsomely. He already acknowledges that the majority of Europe has given up, and he thinks Churchill ought to do the same.

Now, Patterson is still being buttered up by Mary Jayne, unaware that she’s using him. Albert tries not to feel jealous about this, even after sleeping with two women. Up in one of the rooms, he speaks to Paul about what’s been going on. He’s in shock when Paul admits he wants to fight back. With extra men to their cause and the location of potential weapons, he whispers about rising up with a rebellion of their own.

Things start to become strange up at the villa. Max Ernst, a contemporary artist, has a visa that allows him to leave the country. It also allows his ex-wife, whom he divorced in 1927, to travel with him. Peggy arrives at the villa and immediately falls in love with every single one of Ernst's paintings. But when she finds out that his birthday is approaching, she chooses to throw him a party. To put Max's ex-wife on board so the two can travel together, Varian starts searching through the documents.

Meanwhile, Mary Jayne is briefed one last time before heading into the prison to see Michael Bretherton. He is her first of three targets. She manages to take the picture, although she’s a bit suspect. She heads in the other two times to see the different men. The third time, she drops the lipstick and it rolls over to the guard, who begins suspecting her. Thankfully she manages to make it out in one piece… until one of the men from the guard tower passes. He gives her a knowing glance, presumably hinting that he’s part of the rebellion effort, but he doesn’t say anything.

The police are becoming increasingly agitated, with Frot as police chief. He wants to know the precise location of the refugees. He hasn't heard anything since the hotel raid and is unaware that the property is being used as a safe haven. Patterson doesn't know, but he discovers that Mary Jayne is a "prostitute" because of how visible she is around the city. Of course, this is a reference to her work at the prison, but Patterson brushes it off and says it's not true.

The receptionist learns about Max Ernst's large party from Albert, who is standing outside the door, and she decides she wants to go.

In the midst of all this drama, Patterson shows up at the villa. Albert scoffs incredulously when he finds out, especially when Mary Jayne has to act like she still likes him. Speaking of interest, Max’s ex-wife Luis Strauss shows up too, but she’s not in the mood to marry Max again, pointing out that “once was enough”. Peggy, in her drunken state, makes herself another drink and decides she’s all for tying the knot with Max.

Transatlantic is now streaming on Netflix.
