Episode 7 of That ‘90s Show starts with Red and Kitty Forman enquiring why Leia and Jay were with over the police. Kitty states that trouble follows Leia and Jay everywhere they go. The two argue that the mistake is Forman’s because the car had a 1980s number plate. Red Forman bans Jay from his house. Leia tries to hold onto Jay's hand as he walks out of the room.

Red is stuck at the DMV while Kitty is at the dentist, temporarily clearing the coast. Jay offers to do a nice deed in exchange for the senior Formans' goodwill. He takes Sherri's position as Kitty's designated post-dentist driver so Sherri can continue her grocery shopping. While Gwen, accompanying on the voyage, adores this show tune-singing, risk-taking, tattoo-enthusiast version of her friend's grandmother — Kitty is far too under the influence to notice the presence of a Kelso.

Jay tries to remain focused, but Gwen sees an opportunity because her clueless mother Sherri has insisted on her position regarding tattoos. Her rules are that Kitty will sign the release form permitting her to get a tattoo in her current state. Additionally, she wants to "take a yacht and head to Vegas."

When the person in line ahead of Gwen takes too long, her hopes of getting a tattoo are gone. Also, that woman is Kitty, who leaves the tattoo parlor with a tattoo of a cat on her wrist. She later awakens from a post-dental nap in utter horror at the results of her lethargic afternoon joyride. She makes a brief attempt to conceal the tattoo from Red. But, he discovers it right away and accuses Jay, who accepts responsibility. The original Kelso would never. Later, Kitty remarks that "Michael Kelso would never have done that." I was right, wasn’t I?

Look, I'm not arguing that Kelso the Elder is a particularly famous creation, but I'm also not watching a sequel sitcom to feel good about the way a poor imitation of a buffoonish figure is so much kinder than his made-up dad. Despite finding the child hidden in Leia's closet, Red lifts the Kelso restriction. He also makes amends with Sherri, whose father's issues he stoked by holding her accountable for the tattoo mishap. What a sweet but not particularly amusing circumstance!

Nate feels irrationally envious of Nikki since she has been spending a lot of time with her SAT instructor. Ozzie persuades Nate that a confrontation or at the very least some monitoring is necessary using his wide knowledge of daytime talk shows, so the two of them go down to see the enigmatic Trevor. Ozzie and Nate decide to check up on Nikki's SAT teacher, and throughout their investigation, they learn that the man is also a famous football player and the son of a congressman.

Season 1 of That ‘90s Show is now available on Netflix.
