As episode 8 of Beef begins, Amy invites an elderly stranger from an online chess game to have sex with her at a run-down motel. She assumes the dog pose and covers her face with a blanket. Fumi and Amy go shopping again the day after the fire. He pledges to speak with George and persuade him to pay attention to Amy. Fumi views Amy as George's rock and claims that if it weren't for Amy, he would be at the bottom of the ocean even though he would receive half of everything in the event of a divorce.

We spin back to Amy’s past. The day she bunked school and planned an outing, she saw her father crawl in with another woman. Amy saw the manifestation of that creepy lady, whose origins we will understand later in this episode.

In the present, Amy visits her parents, who live in the same house. They are in surprise to see her. Amy has not been in regular contact with them. In fact, the last they talked was two years ago. There is an underlying tension between Amy and her father Bruce. Amy is reading a book that includes that woman in the meantime. Don't act inappropriately, it says beneath her picture. I keep an eye out. She makes an appearance in Amy's skin to warn her that if she ever divulges her secrets, people won't like her as much.

George and June come back. Amy comes clean about sleeping with Paul to George but does not get the reaction she was hoping for. He is heartbroken and devastated by this stroke of reality. Amy also tells him everything about Danny and the road rage incident. George is shocked to find out the truth but is more shaken by the sheer banality of it all. He is incredulous that Amy would risk her family for such a petty issue. Amy says she is a bad person but tried to be good for George. Even though he is supportive, he says he wants a divorce and that June will go with him.

We are given yet another illustration of Amy and Danny's reciprocity in a bizarre yet wonderful moment. Back in 1984, we see them as little children in the arms of their respective parents, who have enormous expectations for them. Danny is currently perplexed, indignant, and devastated. The cause of the fire is still being investigated by the firefighters. Back at the apartment, he drives his parents. They will board the earliest flight home to Korea because they are weary and dissatisfied.

Danny assumes Amy is responsible when Paul tells George what he said. Also, he observes Edwin driving erratically out of the neighborhood. Has he set the fire? Later that evening, Danny returns to his home. Although being aware of the facts, George still desires to speak with
