At the beginning of Beef episode 4, Amy had to drive Paul back because he doesn't have a car. Paul brings up a potential success on the journey. He sounds incredibly immature and unprepared for life based on the way he speaks.

Danny declines Paul's offer to accompany him to Las Vegas so they can meet Kayla. Instead, he devises a new strategy and suggests that the three men indulge in alcohol to mark their achievements.

Danny and Isaac concur and down as much alcohol as they can, but Paul simply acts the part. He travels to Vegas with Danny. Amy has a pampering spa treatment from Jordana, who also outlines her plans for the following day. Jordana advises Amy not to attend the board meeting because it will start early in the morning.

Danny wakes up to realize that Paul has taken the truck and that the construction stuff they stole is still in it. He and Isaac decide to make the trip to Las Vegas to get the truck and the stuff back. Isaac and Danny talk about Paul on their way over. They lament how life is the hardest for any firstborn child. Danny is also rueful about Paul not looking up to him anymore.

During her video conference with George, Amy finds out that Fumi will be staying. She feels a little uneasy about how close they are and how attentive George is to everything she says. Amy is both anxious and eager about her scheduled motivational speech for the next day.

Paul informs Amy through text that he will visit. She requests that he enter incognito and make sure that no one witnesses his entrance. Paul advises that they smoke pot because they are unable to go out or see a movie, and Amy concurs. Amy and Paul had a great time together; it feels good for her to play like a child once more and enjoy a night without obligations.

They talk about Amy’s business which she is selling for $10 million. She isn’t sure what she’ll do with it and if she wants to work for five more years as Jordana suggested. Listening to Paul, Amy says she cannot think like him at the phase of life she is in.
