Review: 'Do Revenge', Starring Riverdale Star, Camila Mendes
- Oct 19, 2022
The story focuses on Drea (Camila Mendes), an “it girl” high schooler whose life suddenly goes up in flames once her sex tape gets leaked, seemingly by her equally popular boyfriend Max (Austin Abrams).
Eleanor (Maya Hawke) portrays a new transfer student, angered to learn that her old bully, Carissa (played by Ava Capri), is attending the same school. After a run-in at a tennis camp, Eleanor and Drea form a secret friendship in order to get revenge on one another’s tormentors.
Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is the director of Do Revenge, whose script and direction are witty and sharp. A film doesn’t have bland scenes, and almost all jokes land well.
Most of the movie’s charm comes from an ideal dynamic between the lead characters, Eleanor and Drea.
Many viewers may find it shocking that the story takes various twists and turns. However, this also adds a fun element to the movie and re-invents it in a charming way.
The story itself is mainly straightforward and quite intriguing. In other words, it is a movie you can fully enjoy. You can find this LGBTQ+ film on Netflix and decide whether it leaves up to all the attention and praise it got.
