In the sequel to A Christmas Story, Ralphie is a grown man with children of his own. Ralphie plays the patriarch in this tale of small-town Christmas mayhem with rebel cousin Flick. He lost his father just days before Christmas, a difficult blow for any family.

He's also a husband and father struggling to make ends meet, so this terrible news comes at the worst possible time. Trying to make the holiday season a happy one for his despondent family is all that can bring joy into his heartbroken mother's life.

Before you know it — the Parkers load their luggage, ready to go. Ralph, Sandy (who has a great rapport with everyone), and adorable children Mark and Julie are packing up their stuff to head back to Hohman, Indiana, for the kind of Christmas they've always had.

Shoppers flocked to the local department store Higbee’s in search of the perfect gifts while they told stories about their children and shared hometown recipes.

Families gather to tell lies about Santa Claus, eat casseroles and make merry — even though complicated plot twists sometimes deflate the festive mood.

This sequel is less reflective and more straightforward than the original, with Ralphie telling his life story in the present tense.

The story of the movie might be light-hearted. However, this is not so for adults. They are more realistic about the working of things and probably experience life differently than children.
