The Inside Man focuses on Jefferson, a former criminology professor on death row for murdering his wife. He and Dylan, a serial killer on death row, solve crimes for personal redemption. A reporter, Beth Davenport, asks them to find an acquaintance

Beth meets Janice during a London Underground incident. They exchange phone numbers. The local vicar, Harry, picks up Janice, his wife’s friend, and his son's math tutor.

A congregant, Ed, gives Harry a flash Drive containing porn to hide it from his mother.

In the meantime, Beth interviews Jefferson.

At home, Harry tosses the flash Drive down with his keys. Janice needs a flash Drive, and Ben, Harry’s son, grabs Ed’s flash Drive. Janice opens the Drive before Harry can stop her. The Drive contains child porn. Harry sends Ben away and tells Janice the Drive is his and not Ben’s. Janice plans on taking it to the police. Harry stops Janice from leaving, and she falls down the basement stairs. She suffers a cut, but overall she is okay. Her phone is also broken. Harry locks her in the basement. Unaware, Ben leaves with friends.

Jefferson tells Beth he chooses cases based on moral worth.

Harry tells everything to his wife, Mary, and she says they have to free Janice. She continues they have to decide before Ben gets home.

Janice hid all of Harry’s tools and left blood all over the basement. She tells Harry she has a video call with her sister tomorrow, and Ben is the last student on her schedule.

Beth received a photo from Janice taken before Janice‘s phone broke. She calls Janice but gets no answer. So, she asks for another meeting with Jefferson, and he agrees.
