In Episode 6, a young Tully enjoys her early journalism days before going to the 1980s. She's TV-ready. Tully completes her father-search documentary in 2004. The media say "Tully Hart is back" and admire her blog.

Kate tells Tully she's over Johnny and invites Charlie, Marah, and Johnny to a fireworks-filled Fourth of July party (sounds like a bad idea to invite Johnny to a place with fireworks, considering he suffers from war PTSD).

Johnny learns in the 1980s that Kate hasn't told Tully they're moving in together because she doesn't want to distract him from becoming an anchor. Unfortunately, Tully is competing with Danny for the position.

Charlie informs Johnny in 2004 that she "half turned down" a nice job offer because she wants to date him. She acknowledges liking him. Charlie tells Johnny to think it through.
When Kate sees how Charlie is dressed, she gets insecure and gets a makeover. Johnny is enamored by her attractiveness but feels embarrassed when he sees she has a date. Johnny informs Kate that he should have told her that when they got married. The couple toasts health.

On July 4, 1970, Eugene kisses Kate. Kate is outraged when he says he's delighted "Tully rejected him" because she wasn't his first choice. Kate confronts Tully, but their buddy confesses she spotted Tully and Kate's brother Sean having sex, making things worse. Kate tells Tully they're not friends (again).

In the 1980s, Tully has sex with Danny at a July 4th company party. Kate mentions having kids with Johnny at the party. She wants four kids, but Johnny doesn't. Kate's angry because she's a mother. Johnny describes his traumatic childhood.

Tully learns at the party that Danny withdrew from the anchor race. New anchor Tully.
