In the first scene of episode 4, PTSD-related memories of the Iraq War are beginning to affect Johnny. After he awakens from a nightmare, Kate reminds him that he should go to the game for his daughter Marah. As usual, Johnny is dismissive.

Kate is prepared to launch her career in New York in 1993. Benedict Binswanger is introduced to Tully, an anchor for a breakfast program. She inquires as to his memory of her because Tully tried to pose a challenging query to him in episode 2 as a reporter, but he patronizingly disregarded her. Later, while eating with Kate, Tully runs into Benedict once more and confronts him. She assures him that he need not act intimidated by her in front of the camera or pretend not to know her. Benedict criticizes her reporting and remarks that he can tell she was an underprivileged child. Unnecessarily hostile toward her is Benedict.

Tully keeps up her blog in 2003 and asks Kate to record it for her. She feels "beneath" doing the blog. Dmitri, a naked man wearing an apron, is present in her kitchen as they are recording, though. Cloud confesses that it is her two-year-old new husband (green card benefit arrangement). Tully has a meeting with Wilson King and doesn't have time to consider what she has seen.

Wilson King requests Tully's return to the program and creative control as a result. He'll also abandon the legal action. Unexpectedly, Tully rejects his offer and requests that the case is dropped. If he doesn't back off, she says she has testimonies from additional women that she would publish. Tully leaves the meeting with fresh optimism for a new career. She admits to Justine, her agent, that she was lying about the recommendations.
