Here's a quick recap for the latest on Yellowstone Season 4.
Cold Open
We're in the late 1880's again as a previous Dutton patriarch wages war on local horse thieves. After a shoot out, Dutton makes an example out of them, as well as makes a name for himself in the valley. But it seems like he might have died from a gunshot wound when he stumbles home, as we seen blood spouting from below his sheriff's badge.
The Rat Race
Jamie and Garett are trying to figure out how they can beat John in the upcoming election. Jamie is almost ready to admit defeat because the only thing he had going for him was the Dutton name. But not anymore.
Garrett isn't so ready to give up that easily. And with Jamie's new baby mama in town, her old political campaign manager self springs back into action. She convinces Jamie that John is only running to spite Jamie and that once he pulls out, John will find another candidate. She wants Jamie to call that bluff.
Market Equities
Airport protestors--organized by Summer--clash with officers. The big wigs at Market Equities want to press charges for trespassing on private property, but Beth convinces them otherwise. She suggests having them remove the press first so they can do what they want with the protestors. Her quick thinking seems to impress Caroline.
Beth persuades the press to leave the building site, but not before alluding to the reporter with an upcoming tip off. Later that night, we see the protestors arrested and the local news there to cover it. Although it's in Market Equities favor, they need it to stay local.
But of course Beth has something up her sleeves and calls the story in to the national news.
Other Characters
Jimmy sure is settling in nice. Not only does he get his own horse, but one of the lead ranchers knows his name, AND he has a date with Emily.
Kayce and Monica find out they're expecting again.
John and Rip are running errands in the truck. They're on their way to meet the sheriff at the diner. But when they arrive Rip notices something seems off. The sheriff and the people inside are just staring at each other. Him and John sneak up the back and open fire on what seem to be a group of robbers.
Although John and Rip win the shoot out, the sheriff dies at the scene. Probably could have expected that from the foreshadowing from the cold open.
