What's going on with the latest in Montana? Read below for our Season 4 Episode 4 recap of Yellowstone.
The Beginning
Jimmy is living the (not so) good life on the road with Travis. He doesn’t have many responsibilities with Travis, and he yearns for the Yellowstone … but mainly Mia. He attempts to write her a letter, but drops it and gets the horse sale checks mailed out to the Yellowstone.
John and Kayce continue their father-son bonding time by going for a horse ride into the forest. John shares the new information he got from Rainwater regarding the person who ordered the hit on them. He asks Kayce to go to Jamie.
The Middle
Beth meets with Caroline from Market Equities and gets … a job offer? Caroline knows a good business woman when she sees one.
But Beth makes her an offer she can’t accept: Caroline needs to hand over her share of Schwartz & Meyer to Beth and Beth will make the state of Montana hers to develop. (Note: by handing over her large Schwartz & Meyer share, Caroline would give Beth power over her old boss and make him bankrupt).
Jamie continues battling for land development as Attorney General. Kayce comes to see him and blames him for not coming to check in on the family after the attacks. Jamie counters--did Kayce stop to wonder why there were no legal repercussions for any of the killings he and the family did in retaliation that day? It was because of Jamie. He explains there is a difference between justice and the law.
Kayce shares the new information he got from his father about the guy who took the hit out on them. He tells Jamie that their father wants him to help the family. Jamie seems touched. Could it be he still has a soft spot left in him that yearns to be a true part of the Dutton family? Remember, last season we learned Jamie was actually adopted. (Although his siblings don’t know it).
Kayce goes back home to Monica and they discuss what to do for their family. He suggests moving back to the reservation--to which she leaps out of bed and starts packing. Will they be back to the Yellowstone any time soon?
Meanwhile, things get heated at the bunkhouse. The love triangle between Lloyd, Walker, and Laramie explodes and Lloyd assaults Walker.
Rip only has one rule on this ranch: NO FIGHTING. If you want to fight someone, you have to fight Rip. He hates to do it, but Rip kicks Lloyd’s ass for starting the fight.
The End
Travis and Jimmy are the only ones awake in the middle of the night while on the road. They’re on their way to the Sixes ranch in Texas where Jimmy is going to get dropped off. Travis tells him whatever Jimmy is looking to do, whether it’s ranching, cowboy-ing, or rodeo-ing, it’s all about one thing: the horse.
To end, Jamie gets a report back from the Bureau of Prisons and learns that the man in question responsible for the hit has a connection with Garrett Randall … his biological father.
