Video Game Review: Elden Ring

Elden Ring belong to a series of video games named unofficially as “Souls” by Hidetaka Miyazaki of From Software. The predecessors of this intricate game are Demon Souls, Bloodborne, the Dark Soul Trilogy and some others. After its release on the 25th of February this year, this video game has created a phenomenon to behold.

It offers is one of a kind in open-world games. George R. R. Martin, creator of the world-famous fantasy series Game of Thrones is on the storyboard for this game. It is expected to offer you a complicated narrative that will keep you hooked.

What is different this time?

1. Compared to earlier releases, Elden Ring is more inclusive but with the morbidity and risk of game playing kept intact. Contrary to stringent enemies that can ruin your day in an instant in such games, the enemies in Elden Ring are more vulnerable.

2. The weapons in it are more resilient than older games. It takes away the disadvantage of delay due to repairing your gear every once in a while. At times, some tricks like using the shield can even put you in a superior position for a while. The stamina too is used up only in fights, and not while travelling.

3. The checkpoints are plenty where you can fill up your meter.

4. The ominous background score used in Elden Ring set the game’s mood just right.

5. In a nutshell, Elden Ring is certainly made friendly but there are no difficulty settings to ease it further. Only way to move forward is through training and failing, a trademark of “Souls” video games.
