Unraveling the Explosive Finale of "Daredevil: Born Again" Season 1
- Apr 26, 2025
The season finale of "Daredevil: Born Again", now streaming on Disney+, wraps up with a mishmash of high-octane violence, dictatorial power dynamics, and a heart-rending personal journey for major characters.
The episode takes off with Vanessa Fisk (Ayelet Zurer) persuading Bullseye (Wilson Bethel) to assassinate Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) - a revelation uncovered via flashback leading to the debut episode of the series. Fast-forwarding to current events, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), recuperating in a hospital following his heroic act of intervening on an assassination attempt on Kingpin at his political gala, now finds Kingpin tightening his hold on the city.
The power getting severed and Buck Cashman (Arty Froushan) being sent to execute Matt under the guise of the blackout paints a grim picture, but the latter escapes owing to his determination and retires to the Punisher’s (Jon Bernthal) sanctuary. However, Kingpin's forces are close on their heels.
A gripping chain of events puts Daredevil and the Punisher back in cooperative action, fighting against Kingpin's henchmen. With the power failure leading to chaos on the streets of New York, Kingpin's police forces begin framing innocent civilians as vigilantes.

Meanwhile, Kingpin and Vanessa's master plan becomes evident - establishing a tax-free city-state within New York's borders. To illustrate his authority, Kingpin grotesquely crushes Commissioner Gallo’s (Michael Gaston) skull with his bare hands.
Daredevil and Punisher tackle Kingpin in their distinct styles, Daredevil rallying forces while Punisher charges in with guns blazing. The episode concludes with the city under martial law, with Daredevil and his newly-recruited allies strategizing to overthrow Kingpin and reinstate peace. The curtain closes with Punisher escaping his imprisonment - a cliffhanger potentially setting the stage for his return in the upcoming Marvel Special Presentation and possibly a second season of “Daredevil: Born Again”.
In conversation with Variety, D’Onofrio, who plays Kingpin, shares insights on Kingpin's violent display in the finale, his political plans, and hints at chapters from the original “Daredevil” comic that might influence Season 2. The finale, according to him, creates a unique viewing experience by coloring the scene differently from similar violent sequences in other shows or films.
