The third episode starts with Luther happily walking home after a seemingly fantastic night with Sloane. He stops by a street vendor and witnesses the disappearance of people due to the ball of energy at the Sparrow Academy’s basement.
This vortex seems to be caused by an effect that Five refers to as the Grandfather Paradox (involving going back in time and killing your own grandfather and then returning to the present). Five recognizes that this paradox may be causing some kind of destabilization that is making people disappear. He teams up with Diego’s ex, Lila (who he hates), to see if they can repair one of the time-traveling briefcases together by working together. After some trial and error, the two use the suitcase to go to the frozen land, where they find what remains of the Commission.
Klaus has not given up on seeking the truth about his mother, and in the process, he finds information that may link Reginald to her death. While seeking after Reginald, he finds Alphonso and Jayme treating him horribly. He bonds with him afterward over movies and ice cream.
The Umbrella siblings have arranged for a meet-up where they plan to get their briefcase from the Sparrows by pretending to have Marcus as a hostage. However, Grace informs the Sparrows that Marcus had been absorbed by the vortex and was with God. So, when the Sparrows show up at Hotel Obsidian, it’s a no holds barred fight.
The fight is fierce, and Sloane tries to warn Luther by signaling him to run. Diego’s son sets the hotel on fire, and the Umbrella siblings are incapacitated by the floating cube, Christopher. Amid the chaos, Lester intervenes and shoots a blast of energy at the Sparrows, killing or at least seriously injuring Alphonso and Jayme and sending the others running. At this point when Viktor realizes that Lester is Sissy’s son Harlan, who he saved in the past and imparted some powers to in the process.
