Global music icon, The Weeknd, will star in the suspense-filled thriller "Hurry Up Tomorrow," set to hit theatres on May 16. The film, directed by Trey Edward Shults and disseminated by Lionsgate, also features Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. The film not only showcases The Weeknd's acting talent but is also influenced by his new music.
The release of "Hurry Up Tomorrow" completes The Weeknd's three-part artistic venture that includes the albums "After Hours" from 2020 and 2022's "Dawn FM." Interestingly, the film coincides with the launch of his upcoming album and concert tour, both named "Hurry Up Tomorrow." The album is set to launch on January 24, with a special concert taking place at the Rose Bowl the following day.
The film is a product of The Weeknd’s production company, Manic Phase, and Reza Fahim, along with the late Kevin Turen and Harrison Kreiss. Jenna Ortega, Shults, Michael Rapino, Ryan Kroft, Wassim “Sal” Slaiby, and Harrison Huffman are its executive producers.
Best known for chart-toppers such as “Blinding Lights” and “Save Your Tears,” The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, has achieved significant success, selling more than 75 million records and earning four Grammys. He was Spotify's most-streamed male artist in 2024. In addition, he co-created the HBO series “The Idol” with “Euphoria” director Sam Levinson in 2023, portraying a powerful music executive who exploits a rising pop star, played by Lily-Rose Depp.
