The fifth episode kicks off with a flashback showing how Reece met Liz. Liz is a military helicopter pilot fending off enemies, but her helicopter has been shot and running out of ammo. Reece rescues her, and they become friends henceforth. Back to the present day, Reece is in San Francisco investigating Capstone Industries when he notes the FBI is watching Katie. He notifies her and goes on taking pictures of the Capstone headquarters before joining Liz in their hiding spot.
Katie tries to convince Mike about Capstone plans, revealing that the military nootropics in soldier optimization, the RD-4895, which made his company billions of money, were not yet tested on human beings. She tells him to call her if she wants to go on record, and instead, he steals information about the RD-4895 from a Capstone server and takes it to Katie. He informs her that the drug was created to relieve soldiers from their PTSD. Horn’s goons track them, and Mike is taken out while Katie runs into a building. Contrary to expectations, she shoots down her pursuer, and Reece rescues her from the next.
Katie explains to Reece the information she got from Mike, and Reece demands the flash drive from her out of impatience. Reece plans to take out Horn using an EFT bomb, and Liz has to help him set it outside Horn’s car. Katie is in the way as she is interrogating Horn. Reece waits for Katie to return before blowing off at Horn, who is badly injured. Reece finishes him with a gun and drives off, with the FBI and the police chasing him.
