Reece is now aware that Saul Agnon is the man behind Holder’s attempt on his life and a vice president at Capstone Industries. Reece is seen packing up hatchets beside a sniper rifle as he goes to meet Katie and explain his findings to her. A gunman follows them and attempts to take them out, but Reece shoots him down. This ensues after Katie informs him that he has a tumor in his brain. Reece recovers a professional hit package from the gunman’s car.
The secretary of defense is keen to redo the budget to put mandatory limits on military service. Her second-in-command assures her that this act of making her country a better place will build her legacy. The limits will affect the military’s readiness number, but there are other ways of managing that problem.
Agnon calls Steve Horn, the CEO of Capstone Industries, and informs him that Reece is not dead, but their assassin is. Horn is keen on technicalities, and he demands some respect for Reece’s name as a commander. Reece hides in a motel, and Ben comes to visit with a Burrito. Reece shares his developments on the case, and Ben promises to keep helping him despite it being a wrong move for his career and life. In the end, Reece sneaks into Agnon’s house and learns of Steve Horn, who was behind the deaths of his wife and daughter.
Throughout his discoveries, Reece keeps wondering what his family deserved to be caught up in all this. He shares his development with Ben, who also wonders why Reece’s wife and daughter were dragged into some corporate conspiracy.
