The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 1 Episode 6 Recap

The next morning, Belly wakes up and thinks back on her night with Jeremiah. Her emotions are everywhere as she bounces back and forth between her feelings towards Jeremiah and Conrad. To top it off, without Belly’s knowledge, Susannah urges Conrad to ask Belly if he can be her date to the Deb Ball.

Conrad, who is under a lot of stress, reacts negatively to this. He then meets Cleveland at the boat where starts experiencing a panic attack. Cleveland is able to calm him down through some breathing techniques.

Cleveland begins to inquire Conrad on his stressors to which he confides in the author of his mother’s cancer. This has been the root of Conrad’s mood swings throughout the series. He struggles with figuring out a way to tell his mom that he knows.

Moving forward, the episode focuses on a volleyball tournament that is played every summer to raise money for charities. Belly is determined to raise the most money and take home the trophy.

But before she leaves for the tournament, Conrad brings up the idea to Belly of being her escort to the Deb Ball. Now she is really confused.

Good thing Taylor comes into town to save her best friend from all the boy drama. The two finally made amends! Taylor comes prepared to win the volleyball tournament alongside Belly yet also to support #TeamJelly (Belly and Jeremiah). She makes it clear which boy she is rooting for her best friend to choose.

During the volleyball game, Taylor strains her ankle. But that is all a part of her grand scheme. Jeremiah takes her place as she walks off the court with a mischievous grin.

Halfway through the game, Belly is disappointed with Jeremiah’s performance and swaps him out with Conrad. Belly and Conrad win the competition together and boy does that stir up some emotions in Jeremiah.

As Susannah comes to embrace the pair, she asks Conrad if he has asked Belly to the ball. Belly is upset to know that Conrad did not do it on his own but instead at the will of his mom.

Belly turns to Taylor for support. As a distraction, the two decide to go to Nicole’s boat party where a few of the deb girls will be playing games and drinking rosé. During a game of Never Have I Ever, the girls find out that Belly and Jeremiah kissed.

While the girls are together, Conrad texts Belly telling her that he asked her to the Deb Ball because he wanted to, not because his mom made him. Unbeknownst to Belly, Nicole and her friends see that text and leave Belly and Taylor stranded while skinny dipping and take their clothes.

The two are forced to wander the street in towels. But when Conrad finds out from an angry Nicole and Jeremiah finds out through a phone call with Belly, the two brothers take off separately to come to Belly’s rescue.

Without each other’s knowledge, they arrive at the same time. After the two girls put their clothes back on, Belly rides back home with Jeremiah and Taylor with Conrad. In the car, Belly and Jeremiah share a steamy kiss before heading back to the house.

At the end of the night, Conrad texts Belly asking if she is awake. Belly goes out to find Conrad at the dock. She meets him and he hands her the infinity necklace admitting his feelings for her. Belly responds, “It’s too late” and walks away.

Belly has made up her mind. Or has she?
