The Sandman’s seventh episode opens with us traveling back to 2015. In addition to being in the midst of a significant family issue, we are in Cape Kennedy, Florida. Two siblings, Rose and Jed Walker, are split off after a couple splits up. Rose finds it to be the most heartbreaking thing in the world and battles to control her tears.
While all is going on, Despair and Desire keep planning because they think a new vortex has formed. This is Rose Walker, as it happens. Information about this makes its way to Dream’s castle.
Lucienne reports to Dream that although there are over 11,000 entities around, only three of the Major Arcana are still present. Gault, the Corinthian, Fiddler’s Green, and a nightmare with changing forms. Dream takes responsibility but dismisses the vortex rumors because Rose is not currently a danger. Lucienne sends Matthew to check on her in its place.
In 2021 when we rejoin Rose, she is still hunting for her brother. Rose is reminded that she does have a job even if she is unemployed and out of money (because her mother spent everything on the condo). Or at least a chance.
When Rose and Lyta Hall arrive in Sussex, they show up to a nursing home and run into Unity. She has a dollhouse in her room that was a birthday present for her when she turned 12. She was asleep the entire time, so she never had the chance to play with it. If you recall, she was one of the dreamers who suffered while Morpheus was imprisoned.
