This episode presents Mick seeing flashbacks of his past as he watched his father work tirelessly to fight for innocent people who were accused wrongly. His daughter, Hayley, is concerned about the ethical lines her father has to cross to defend murderers, but Mick assures her that he would never defend anyone who hurts children. Mick even has Hayley brought in during his opening arguments to see her father’s work.
Mick is worried about the bribe Griggs told about him, and he guesses that it may have gone to Judge Stanton. He assigns Lorna and Cisco the work of looking into this case while he meets Judge Holder. He is late for the meeting, and his punishment would involve him donating to a charity of his choice. Mickey still has Elliot’s case to handle, and he asks him if he remembers Jerry asking for 100,000 USD for a murder reenactment, and Elliot takes the bait, saying he does. Mick becomes suspicious, and he shares his suspicions with Izzy.
Mick is still begging Menendez to give him another chance to get him out of prison since he thinks he is innocent, and his wrongful conviction is giving him trauma. At the end of the episode, Mick confronts Trevor about him bribing a juror, and Trevor denies this, attributing it to his investors. Killing Jerry and Trevor’s wife was the work of a Russian tycoon from whom Trevor had borrowed money. The killer bribed juror seven, which would mean losing a juror if the case was pushed back. In the light of these discoveries, Mick establishes that Trevor is innocent. He leaves knowing his father would be proud of him since an innocent man would not be wrongly convicted.
