While we’re still reflecting on the finale of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and waiting on Loki (the next Marvel Cinematic Universe series on Disney Plus) to come out on June 11, the folks at Marvel decided to give us some news about a number of their upcoming movie releases. Let’s check out the latest news.
Coming up in 2021
Black Widow – July 9
A final victory lap, sendoff, and passing of the torch for Natasha Romanoff (aka The Black Widow). We can expect to have a new character taking up the Black Widow name for future MCU movies after this release.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – September 3
The introduction of a brand new character and corner of the MCU, with what we can expect to be a mix of martial arts and magic.
Eternals – November 5
Another entirely new set of characters, who have been around all along. It will be interesting to see why the virtually immortal and immensely powerful characters didn’t get involved during Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.
Spider-Man: No Way Home – December 17
Picking up where Spider-Man: Far From Home left off, where our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man has his secret identity revealed and he is accused of being a villain. So many rumors about bringing in past actors to play alternate versions of the character could make this one a real blast. It is also planned to lead into the next Doctor Strange movie (see below)
Coming in 2022
Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness – March 25, 2022
Likely picking up on events from WandaVision and Spider-Man: No Way Home, this will be our next installment in the Doctor Strange saga.
Thor: Love and Thunder – May 6, 2022
The last time we saw Thor, he was headed off on a new adventure with the Guardians of the Galaxy, but we can assume that partnership may not last too long and Thor ends up on another path. That new direction may include the introduction of a ‘new’ Thor.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – July 8, 2022
Expect the next Black Panther film to pay homage to Chadwick Boseman and his role as the Black Panther. Until now, it hasn’t had a title, other than Black Panther 2.
The Marvels (Captain Marvel 2) – November 11, 2022
We still don’t know much about the plot, but we do know that Captain Marvel will be joined by Monica Rambeau (aka Photon?) who was introduce in WandaVision and Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) who will be introduced in her own Disney Plus show in 2021.
Coming in 2023
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania – February 17, 2023
We’ll get a new installment in the Ant-Man series and maybe an introduction to Cassie Lang as new superhero Sature or Stinger?
Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 – May 5, 2023
We’ll actually get to enjoy what will surely be a bizarre and hilarious Guardians of the Galazy Holiday Special in late 2022 before the release of Vol. 3.
Coming Sometime…
Fantastic Four
We’ve known it’s coming, but at the end of a recent MCU teaser trailer of upcoming movies, we got a quick sneak peek at the well-know F4 logo. So far, that’s all we have.
