The first teaser of the movie “House of Gucci,” came out in early March through an Instagram post featuring Lady Gaga and Adam Driver. The two stars were dressed to play the roles of Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of legendary designer, Guccio Gucci.
The internet began buzzing once the photo was released and gawking over the pair's monochromatic outfits with the alpine woods in the background. They look so good together, but we all know that is not how the real Gucci tale goes.
A few months later, in late July the long-awaited trailer was released.
Heart of Glass by Blondie is the soundtrack for the trailer and it plays eerily in the background as vivid scenes of weddings, wild nights, dramatic glares, disco, Gucci fashion shows, and a murder scene flash by.
The film, based on the true story of the Gucci family, is directed by Ridley Scott.
It will follow the assassination of Maurizio Gucci (Driver) along with the secrets and scandal within the Gucci family dynasty.
Patrizia Reggiani (Gaga), plays a huge role in the scandal as her husband leaves her for another woman. In a rage, she plots his murder and is later tried and convicted for the crime. She served 18-years in prison following.
Aside from Gaga and Driver, the star-studded cast includes Jared Leto (Paulo Gucci), Al Pacino, Salma Hayek, and Jeremy Irons.
In April, once the film was set for production, April Patrizia Gucci, the great-grandchild of Guccio Gucci, shared her conflicting feelings towards the film.
She told the Associated Press she is worried that the film “goes beyond the headline-grabbing true-crime story and pries into the private lives of the Guccio Gucci heirs.”
“We are truly disappointed. I speak on behalf of the family,” said Gucci. “They are stealing the identity of a family to make a profit, to increase the income of the Hollywood system…Our family has an identity, privacy. She can talk about everything but there is a borderline that cannot be crossed.”
According to the Associated Press, the Gucci family will decide what actions they might take after seeing the film.
The House of Gucci trailer closes out with the following words: money, family, power, betrayal, sex, loyalty, scandal, ambition, and murder.
Expect to see that in theatres on November 24th.
