Episode 9 opens with Wendy and Marty getting to their hotel room and processing the news that Richard (Ruth’s husband) has just murdered Javi. Wendy then asks Marty why he always chooses the world over family, and he explains that he is desperately trying to be the good guy.
Marty acknowledges that Ruth’s whole family has been destroyed due to their activities. He’s fed up with having blood on his hands.

In this episode, Wendy must confront a challenging task.
Wendy meets Omar Navarro in prison. Wendy tells him his nephew has vanished and that the FBI thinks he may be dead. Wendy considers this a good time for him to again act as head of the Cartel.
Wendy can’t get in touch with him, but she lies about those charges and indicates that Omar plans to be released from solitary; she tells them to free Omar from isolation and put him in safety. That is a colossal wager from Wendy. It also feels desperate.
Omar refuses to put up a drug ring in prison and tells Wendy and Marty that he can’t operate an operation from here. He wants to secure his power right away.
Marty offers to go to Mexico and reestablish control and thinks he will be accepted with his blessing.
