Obi-Wan Kenobi

Old Friends and New Enemies: Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 1, Episode 4 Review

Old Friends and New Enemies is the fourth episode of the first season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It introduced the bounty hunter Durge into the series, as well as providing further development to Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.

After episode 3 you may expect an overlong episode with some sort of lesson about trust or teamwork thrown in for good measure. While there was a sense of deja vu at times, none of these story elements felt like a rehash from previous episodes which is always nice.

The audience has yet to see another planet where we can meet new characters instead of just seeing old ones again. And we got to learn more about Ahsoka’s past. All in all a good filler episode that will leave you me wanting more!

In addition to another excellent performance by Ewan Mc Gregor, Old Friends offered up a few more insights into what makes Obi-Wan Kenobi spring into action.

What do you think of Qui-Gon Jinn’s death? Do you think he will stay dead? What did you think of Darth Maul? How would you feel if your friend was attacked by a stranger in an alleyway? Could anyone really use one of those to fight effectively without years of training?

Final Words

Revenge of The Sith is Star Wars at its most mature. Yes, there are a lot of silly moments but Lucas takes it to a level that we have never seen before. The final battle between Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) might not be action-packed but more like an internal conflict within Anakin himself.
