To meet Kamala’s grandmother Sana, she and her mother travel to Pakistan. Sana, Kamala, and her mother Muneeba are having a heartwarming reunion. Sana discusses Aisha, the significance of the bangles, and the train with her granddaughter. She informs Kamala about her history with the train from their visions and how it must be connected to the bangle. She suggests Kamala must find the train.
Kamala sets off to visit the market with her cousins but finds an excuse to visit the train station on the hunt for the train. She goes to the railway station after her cousins depart to meet their acquaintances. At the station, Kamala is attacked by a young man in a red mask. However, she defends herself by using her growing powers. But, the two call a truce when he discovers she isn’t one of the Clandestines. He introduces himself as Kareem, a member of an ancient society called the Red Daggers member.
Kareem takes Kamala to the Red Dagger hideout and their leader, Waleed. Waleed then informs Kamala about about Najma, the Clandestines, and their dimension. He claims that if the Clandestines obtain the bangles, they will tear down the barrier between dimensions and the Djinn dimension will take over the earth.
Meanwhile, Najma and the other Clandestines escape custody of the DODC, but leave Kareem behind as a traitor. They make their way to Pakistan to find Kamala and arrive at the Red Dagger stronghold. Kamala and Kareem fight the Clandestines together. As she tries to strike Kamala, Najma murders Waleed.
As Kamala struggles with Najma, the Djinn’s weapon comes into contact with the bangle creating a burst of energy which seems to send Kamala back in time. She finds herself at the train station at the time of the Partition, likely at the same moment as her grandmother was there as a young girl. Thousands of people are attempting to board a train to Pakistan at the train station where Kamala is currently located. It appears to be the train from Kamala’s vision.
