Sources have confirmed that actress Mikey Madison, fresh from her Oscar win, has decided to reject an offer for a role in the new, as-of-yet untitled Star Wars movie. The forthcoming movie is set to be directed by Shawn Levy, best known for his work on "Deadpool & Wolverine."

Screenwriter Jonathan Tropper has been tapped for the creation of the film's script. Tropper, known for his contributions to "This Is Where I Leave You," and "The Adam Project," puts pen to paper for a screenplay set to feature Ryan Gosling in a central role. Director Levy has been instrumental in the development of the project, which has been underway since late 2022. Levy also produces for 21 Laps, his production company, with the collaboration of Lucasfilm President, Kathleen Kennedy.

This new film comes as a standalone project, not tied to the traditional Skywalker Saga which concluded back in 2019 with "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker." Details surrounding the plot remain shrouded in mystery.

This untitled piece is set to follow in the footsteps of "The Mandalorian & Grogu," the only Star Wars movie to be approved in over half a decade. Having recently completed the principal filming, its release is slated for May 22, 2026.

As for Mikey Madison, the 26-year-old actress has gained recognition for her performances in the FX series "Better Things," along with movies such as "Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood" and "Scream 5." However, it was her role in Sean Baker's "Anora" that truly thrust her into the limelight, bagging her the Oscar, and not even having to audition for it.

Reflecting on her journey, Madison shared on Variety's Awards Circuit podcast before the Oscars, "It was definitely challenging, but I guess all that hard work paid off." With her evident talent, all eyes are now focused on where Madison's career will take her next.
