Meet ABC's First "Golden Bachelorette": Joan Vassos

In an exclusive preview of ABC's "The Golden Bachelorette", 61-year-old leading lady Joan Vassos unveils that she is in pursuit of a modest, chivalrous, big-hearted, and magnanimous man. The introductory video shows Vassos creating a meal with and dining with her beloved family, expressing her gratitude for their unwavering support in her journey on the show.

Joan Vassos, making it clear to her family in the video, states, "I'm not here to replace dad," instead, she desires to "just want our family to be whole again."

After her stint as a contestant on "The Golden Bachelor" in September 2023, she was proclaimed as the first leading lady of the series in May 2024. A school administrator from Rockville, Md, she has four kids and two grandkids and became a widow after being married for 32 years.

Responding to her daughter Ally's question about being comfortable with kissing a man other than her late husband on the television, Vassos acknowledged the necessity to "get used to that," considering she's likely to "probably kiss a fair amount of guys on camera" and tenderly apologized to her family for it.
