Venom: The Last Dance (2024) - Movie Review

The first critic reactions to "Venom: The Last Dance" are in and the verdict is positive. The film, which marks the end of the immensely popular Venom trilogy, is being lauded by critics as a "fan spectacle", "significant" and a "proper conclusion". Tom Hardy is back in his role as Eddie Brock, or the symbiote Venom from the Spider-Man comics, in “Venom: The Last Dance”. The premise of the movie features Eddie and Venom on the run, being pursued by both their worlds, and driven into a corner that will signal the end of their journey together.

Joseph Deckelmeier, writing for Screen Rant, acclaimed the film as an exciting ride from beginning to end, likening it to the joyful, action-packed comic book movies of the early 2000s. Ian Sandwell, a Digital Spy editor, complimented the third installment as being the most enjoyable of the trilogy, highlighting its humor, heart, and thrilling segments.

The star-studded cast of “Venom: The Last Dance” includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, and others along with Hardy. The movie is directed by Kelly Marcel, who also penned the screenplay. It was produced by Marcel and Hardy, together with Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, and Hutch Parker, whereas Joe Caracciolo Jr. served as the executive producer.

The Atom Review commended Hardy’s acting as Eddie Brock/Venom and acclaimed the movie as a grand and moving end to the series. Reflecting these sentiments, a number of other first reactions praised the movie as a cinematic marvel, with its heroic action and engaging story delighting fans. While there were a few minor criticisms, they did not undermine the overall positive reception to the film.

“Venom: The Last Dance” is set to release in theaters on Oct. 25.
