More Christmas movies! This one was released on Netflix in November 2021. Let's get a quick recap and review for this one starring Kelsey Grammar and Elizabeth Hurley.
What's It About?
Four sisters – Caroline, Joanna, Paulina, and Vicky – reunite for the Christmas Holiday at Caroline's mansion in the English countryside. And oh boy there's tension among the four sisters, who are as different as can be.
Caroline is the goody two-shoes who wants to have everything perfect and in order for the family visit. She has the perfect life with her husband and two kids and their gorgeous Yorkshire manor.
Joanna is a rockstar fashion magazine editor with the wardrobe to show for it. She seems to be on her umteenth husband and shows no signs of slowing down despite her age, which she's less reluctant to admit.
Paulina is the black sheep of the family with her rather erratic behavior and odd obsession with the Beatles, on whom she is writing a full-blown thesis.
Vicky is the youngest of the family, and therefore the rebel. Her free spirit has her flitting from place to place.
However, their estranged father, James, joins in for the first time since he left the family behind decades prior. The group attempts to get through the holiday despite comedic misunderstandings, while also uncovering the long-buried secret that tore their family apart, so many years ago.
Watch It or Not?
I'm personally always a fan of ANY British movie, so this one is definitely up there for me. Although, it's not quite as much of a favorite as Love Actually. The storyline was interesting and the excessive charisma of some of the characters also made it more entertaining.
It doesn't have quite as much of the cheesy "feel good" moral as most Christmas Hallmark movies, so if you're looking for something that feels a little more "realistic", I would recommend watching.
