Disney Encanto’s Song Reached Billboard No. 1 Spot

Can we expect anything less from Lin-Manuel Miranda? The song, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from the latest Disney animated movie, Encanto, has reached the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

It's actually only the second time in cinematic history that a Disney song has reached the number one spot. The first was "A Whole New World" from Aladdin back in 1992. I mean, how many people still sing that one?

Before Encanto, the only other musical film to come close was Frozen. That movie's iconic theme song, "Let It Go", peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard charts. Lots of people still singing this one too. And if anyone still plays the Moana soundtrack or Hamilton (also from Miranda), then we can expect this one to be stuck in our heads for a while too.

The ensemble song here, "We Don't Talk About Bruno", was put together by Carolina Gaitán, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero, Stephanie Beatriz and the Encanto Cast.

“Bruno” is also the first Hot 100 leader for Miranda.

So what about the movie itself? It's about a Colombian family, the Madrigals, with extraordinary gifts and talents. However, the magic that has gifted every child in their family is now in danger.

The movie has been championed for its Latin representation as Disney paves the way with more films that represent diversity.
