On the heels of Warner Bros. recent announcement about their 2021 movies releasing simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max, now we have some exciting news from the folks at Disney.
Marvel
As with so many movies and series, Marvel has been pushing back many planned releases, so any news regarding when some of these titles will be available is welcome. While the dates for the bigger film releases remain a mystery, we now have some dates for a number of Disney Pus series.
WandaVision will be available on January 15.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will release on March 19.
Loki follows up with a release date in May.
Marvel also announced three new series now on the production schedule: Secret Invasion, Ironheart, and Armor Wars. All these will be coming to Disney Plus in the future, but no dates have been released yet. They add to a slate of upcoming series that also includes She-Hulk, Mook Knight, and Ms. Marvel (who will also appear in the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel).
This is all great news for Marvel fans after a quiet 2020.
Star Wars
Not to be outdone, the Star Wars universe is also going to be a big part of the future for Disney Plus. Building on the success of The Mandalorian, Disney has two spinoff series in the works: Ahsoka (a Jedi character from The Madalorian series) and Rangers of the New Repbulic. There aren’t many details about Rangers, other than it will be set in the same timeline as The Mandalorian, along with Ahsoka.
There are also spinoff series in the works for Obi-Wan and a Rogue One spinoff, called Andor. Obi-Wan will bring back one of the franchise’s most popular characters and promises to include Darth Vader, as well. There is also an as-yet-to-be-named series based on the Lando Calrissian character.
