It's one thing to prepare for a day-long backpacking excursion. However, what about preparing for a month-long backpacking trip? The idea of packing for a 30-day journey can make a lot of us shudder. While it would be unrealistic to bring our home appliances on a month-long hiking trip, really enjoying the journey can be simpler than anticipated. We can definitely make some changes to make our vacation more convenient.
Here are some pointers:
A remarkable feat for feet.
What is a month in the larger scheme of things? But if you don't have the right shoes, every step would seem like it takes a lifetime to your feet.
The key is to wear a pair of boots or shoes with just enough room for your feet to fit comfortably within. I've found that three-quarter or high-top shoes are best for giving your ankles the support they need while trekking. You might be familiar with the overall terrain you'll go through when traveling.
Separating wishes from needs.
Some items may appear essential when traveling on a lengthy, month-long camping trip, but they are better left at home:
For a month-long backpacking journey, you only need to bring along 1.5 pairs of shoes.
It only takes one book for those that enjoy reading. On the other hand, download some music or podcasts on your phone for leisure time.
It's still wise to travel light.
It might seem sensible to bring everything you need for a month of camping and trekking, but don't forget the kitchen sink.
In fact, it is advisable to leave out products that you place in your "maybe" pile when choosing which items to bring on your trip and which items to leave at home. Always leave something out if you're unsure.
